Stewart McKelvey

Stewart McKelvey is Atlantic Canada’s first and largest full-service law firm and one of the 20 largest in the country. They have more than 225 lawyers spread over six offices throughout the four Atlantic provinces.

THE CHALLENGE

Stewart McKelvey strives to ensure excellent and consistent people management throughout the Firm and to support the effective development of the Firm’s staff. As the leading law firm in Atlantic Canada, they offer education or professional development and, as such, reached out to shiftED to request an education session to be included in their Leadership Development Curriculum. The workshop, scheduled for early 2020 at Stewart McKelvey’s location in Halifax, was to be for 32 new and tenured managers and directors attending both virtually and in person.

THE SOLUTION

shiftED created a bespoke hybrid workshop to be incorporated into the Leadership Development Curriculum. The 90-minute Essential Presentation Skills Workshop for Leaders was to be held in Halifax with a minimum of two people per office participating online and the remainder attending live in Halifax. Due to public health advisories arising from the pandemic in the days leading up to the workshop date, the session was temporarily paused and then became fully virtual in June 2020.

THE RESULT

Stewart McKelvey launched their Leadership Development Curriculum to support the continuing professional development of its managers. The Curriculum, which included shiftED’s online workshop helped the Firm achieve their goal of increasing the confidence and abilities of its managers to present information to others effectively.
